Safe In Our World, a unique mental health charity for the videogames industry Tees up with Seven Squared
Safe in Our World is an accredited charity supported by industry luminaries, veterans and ambassadors across the world, and its mission is to create an online destination where people can seek help, gain access to resources and information, and discover stories from real people within and surrounding the games industry.
With over 50 percent of the world’s population playing video games, and one in four people globally affected by mental health issues, the task ahead is daunting, but Safe In Our World will drive forward initiatives to support and help players around the world.
Seven Squared, a collective of gamer artists, illustrators, designers and licensing professionals led by IP licensing veteran Simon Kay of AT New Media are sharing their journey of playing computer games throughout their lives by licensing, designing and delivering bespoke limited edition apparel that uniquely tells the history of playing video games.
Chair and Trustee, Leo Zullo commented, “We are delighted to be collaborating with Seven Squared on this apparel initiative which will grow in collaboration with the Safe in Our World project. We’re humbled by the sheer scale of positive reception and support within the gaming community, and we cannot thank Seven Squared enough for their creativity and generosity.”
Simon Kay of Seven Squared / AT New Media commented, “I am a passionate advocate for positive change in mental health awareness and the need for everyone to support not only themselves but others too.” He continued, “Safe In Our World is taking the first steps to make a difference in a digital world where games are at the heart of many minds. The opportunity to be involved and
support this initiative was timely and we are delighted to help where we can. The journey playing computer games generates wonderful memories and conversations, and we hope integrating Safe In Or World into Seven Squared’s journey will enable enable more good work to be done.” Starting with their loves from their teenage years, Seven Squared has crafted truly original designs
that align with some of the greatest games ever made; from California Games to Monty Mole and Speedball to Horace; and there is so much more to come.
Seven Squared has already given Safe In Our World a share of the profits from the sale of their Tees to-date and has committed to do so from January 2020.
Throughout 2020, some truly special editions, designed not only by Seven Squared, but the IP owners themselves will be released specifically for Safe In Our World.
Furthermore, there will be opportunities for IP owners, gaming and retro gaming communities to create their own designs for the charity with Seven Squared, enabling them to not only be on the journey and join in the conversation around many great iconic games, but to know they are making a positive contribution to Mental Health awareness and programs via Safe in Our World within the gaming industry.
The first of these collaborations will be announced soon with one of the most iconic retro games that many veterans played in our younger days.
